Wellness wisdom: Nurturing your mind and body after 30

"I was heart-broken, I was devastated, I started believing that I am a failure, a loser at every path of life. I had left my job when I got pregnant, but I was hoping that within a year I will start working again. 3 years passed without a job, I was somehow coping up with my stress but was completely taken aback when I found that my husband was cheating on me. It just stopped me dead in my tracks and I held myself responsible for that too" - said Mamta while sharing her story. She further added, "It was only my daughter Kiara who kept me alive. I wanted to live for her, to give her all that would make her happy"

Life brings us a new surprise everyday. Sometimes it can be pleasant and other times it might raise eyebrows. We shall always be ready to face the challenges that life brings - specially after 30 when we have a lot of responsibilities on us. For women, generally the responsibilities are multiplied by number of times and thus they fall prey to stress, anxiety, illness and what not !!

Pampering ourselves regularly is extremely essential to stay happy and healthy. Unfortunately, women often prioritize everything else in their life except caring for themselves.

As we administer various responsibilities, neglecting self care can affect our mental and physical well-being specially during the transformative decade of our life that starts at 30. Self-care is not a luxury; it is a necessity that allows us to recharge, maintain balance, and foster a healthy relationship with ourselves. It doesn't have to be time-consuming; rather, it's about incorporating small, meaningful practices into our daily routines. We will talk about some must-dos of self care:

  • Stress management is essential for relaxation and maintaining mental well-being. Deep breathing exercises or activities like yoga and meditation can help relieve stress and bring a sense of calm and balance. Taking time to relax and unwind is all-important for recharging your mental batteries.
  • Getting out in nature nourishes our mind, body and soul effortlessly. Nature connects us with ourselves - by simply watching the clouds, listening to the birds pumps us with an appreciation for being alive. We must take a few minutes everyday to walk outdoors, notice the trees, plants and life around us to rejuvenate ourselves!

  • Expressing gratitude and writing love notes can deeply nourish our mind and soul. There are so many ways to express your gratitude like journaling, putting stickers, Start by writing a love note to yourself and then extend it to the world. Positivity can do wonders !!!
  • Prioritizing adequate quality sleep each night is another essential part of self-care. A well-rested body and mind are better equipped to handle the day's experiences. Sleep allows the body to heal and the brain to process efficiently.
  • Nourish your body with balanced and nutritious meals. Eating fruits and vegetables, proteins, whole grains and healthy fats can maintain our physical health. Avoiding excessive processed food, limiting caffein intake and staying hydrated throughout the day helps in maintaining a good health.
